As a long-time J-45 player I have tried a dozen different brands & types of strings, but I agree with the OP that the factory installed Gibson Masterbuilt 80/20’s were the best sounding strings on a J-45. And for me, the lights play better than the mediums.

Finally, Masterbuilts wound Strings have Bronze "plated" Hex Core wire. GHS have tin "plating". Again, the plating is so thin it has zero bearing on the tone.
