US President Donald Trump and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer have had a telephone conversation, during which they discussed, among other things, a settlement of the war waged by Russia against Ukraine.

Donald Trump failed to accomplish the set task – to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine by Easter. However, on the eve, a noticeable diplomatic activation still took place – simultaneously with direct threats from the Americans to withdraw from the process altogether.

Donald Trump has said the US will "take a pass" on brokering further Russia-Ukraine talks if Moscow or Kyiv "make it very difficult" to reach a peace deal. The US president told reporters in the Oval Office on Friday that he was not expecting a truce to happen in "a specific number of days" but he wanted it done "quickly".
