As expected, the MAGA contingent was once again BIG MAD at the Black National Anthem being sung at the Super Bowl.

In a striking white gown and backed by a New Orleans youth choir, The Root 100 honoree brought the house down with her out-of-this-world vocals, doing incredible justice to the historic and powerful song. Her rendition immediately went viral on the internet moments after it aired, with viewers rushing to social media to praise the singer.

In a move that’s got football fans buzzing, the NFL has confirmed that Grammy-winning artist Ledisi will open this year’s Super Bowl in New Orleans with a performance of “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” aka the Black National Anthem.

Controversy was not to be missed at Super Bowl LIX and before the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles took to the field at the Superdome in New Orleans, Ledisi performed

The NFL has done away with the “End Racism” slogan that was painted in the back of the endzone, but apparently that was not enough to make some folks happy. Check out social media and you will see folks promising to boycott Sunday’s Super Bowl LIX between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, still.

Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing,” a song often called the Black national anthem, was sung before the Super Bowl for the fifth year in a row Sunday.

Though it's been performed for years, conservatives got worked into lather Sunday over Ledisi's performance of 'Lift Every Voice and Sing.'

The MAGA contingent and prominent right-wing commentators were outraged at the inclusion of the Black national anthem at the Super Bowl. Newsweek has reached out to a representative for the NFL outside of regular working hours via email for comment.
