Shark bites 40-year-old surfer's right arm in New Smyrna Beach during July 4 weekend

An incident over the weekend has added to New Smyrna Beach's reputation as the Shark Bite Capital of the World. According to Volusia County Beach Safety, a 40-year-old Winter Park man was bitten on his right forearm as he swam in the ocean just south of the jetty, Sunday, July 6, at around 3 p.m.
