A Georgia judge has dismissed a felony case against former Brunswick Judicial Circuit District Attorney Jackie Johnson. She was accused of hindering the investigation into the murder of Ahmaud Arbery.

A judge Wednesday ended the trial of former Georgia prosecutor accused of using her influence to protect the men who chased and killed Ahmaud Arbery by throwing out the felony indictment used to charge her,

BRUNSWICK, Ga. (CN) — The trial against a former Georgia prosecutor accused of using her position to shield from immediate arrest the men who chased and killed Ahmaud Arbery came to an abrupt end Wednesday morning.

The trial of former Glynn County District Attorney Jackie Johnson was to continue Tuesday. She still faces a felony charge of violating her oath of office.

The men told police they suspected Arbery was a burglar and argued that he was shot in self-defense. No one was arrested for more than two months, until cellphone video of the shooting leaked online and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation took over the case from local police.

Jackie Johnson testified she removed herself from the case after learning the shooting involved the son of Greg McMichael, a former investigator for her office.
