Devendra Fadnavis has been unanimously elected as the Leader of Maharashtra BJP Legislative party, paving the way for him to be sworn in as Maharashtra chief minister on December 5. His name has been finalised in BJP core committee meeting today.

Senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis met outgoing Shiv Sena boss Eknath Shinde in Mumbai Tuesday evening, amid continuing suspense, and an absorbing tug-of-war, over the identity of the next Maharashtra Chief Minister.

MORE than 10 days after the Mahayuti swept the Maharashtra elections, the suspense is finally over. At 5.30 pm on Thursday, Devendra Fadnavis will be sworn in as Chief Minister at Mumbai’s historic Azad Maidan.

Apart from Shinde, NCP leader Ajit Pawar will also take oath as the second deputy chief minister of Maharashtra.
