The former don, the last to lead the organized crime ring out of Providence, died at a veterans home in Bristol, R.I. on Sunday

Sources confirm to NBC 10 News that Luigi "Baby Shacks" Manocchio has died at the age of 97.Manocchio was the former boss of the Patriarca family.

The former boss of the New England crime family, Louis Manocchio, died of natural causes at the Veterans Home in Bristol Sunday.

In 1969, Manocchio was indicted for participating in the murders of Rudolph Marfeo and Anthony Melei. He fled to France, but later returned to the United States, living undercover in New York City for most of the 1970s, according to Federal Court documents.
