Apple won't introduce a new chip with its best iPad lineup, as it did with the M4 iPad Pro. Here's when to expect the M5 iPad Pro.

Apple's next update to the iPad Pro line with an M5 chip is quite a way from release, an analyst claims, with mass production of the tablet expected to happen in late 2025.

While previous M-series chips debuted in a Mac, Apple surprisingly launched the M4 in the iPad Pro several months before it appeared in a Mac. With the first M5 Macs expected to launch in late 2025, the M5 iPad Pro may arrive in September alongside the iPhone 17.

Apple could be first in line as a client for TSMC's cutting edge 2nm process node, on which both the A19 Pro chip for the iPhone 17, and the M5 processor that features the foundry's new Small Outline Integrated Circuit (SoIC) packaging.

The M5 iPad Pro is already queued for mass production, with an estimated release window in the second half of 2025.
