Walmart, the largest private employer in America, has announced that it will be eliminating hundreds of office roles as well as closing one of its North Carolina offices.

Walmart is closing its regional office in Charlotte with 267 layoffs as the retail giant consolidates its corporate offices nationally. Walmart has asked some of its office-based workers to relocate to its headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas, and Sunnyvale, California, the retailer said in a memo emailed to The Charlotte Observer late Tuesday.

Walmart is making major strategic moves that involve laying off some employees and relocating others to two central hubs. According to an internal memo written by Walmart's Chief People Officer Donna Morris and seen by Fox Business on Tuesday,
