Karen Read is asking for a Massachusetts court to dismiss the civil lawsuit filed against her by the family of Boston police officer John O'Keefe, who she was acquitted of killing last month.

Karen Read filed a motion to dismiss a wrongful death lawsuit brought by John O'Keefe's family seeking over $50,000 in damages after she was recently acquitted of murder charges.

After adding new attorneys to her cause, Karen Read said she intends to ask the court to toss a civil case against her.

Read’s defense attorneys argued that O’Keefe, who allegedly had a long-standing disagreement with someone at the party, was severely injured during an argument at the party and may have been attacked by a dog given the deep wounds on his arm.
