Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is meeting Thursday with congressional leaders on Capitol Hill, days after a meeting with President Trump that prompted widespread shock with the announcement of plans for the United States to "take over" the Gaza Strip.

The meeting is expected to focus on negotiating the second phase of the three-phase ceasefire deal with Hamas, they will also discuss Iran’s nuclear efforts, arms shipments and a potential deal to normalize relations with Saudi Arabia.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged this Tuesday the involvement of US President Donald Trump in the ceasefire in Gaza, which was reached on January 19, and expressed hope that his assistance will help advance the second phase of the negotiations.
