A wet and rainy Florida could soon see even more precipitation in the coming days, according to the National Weather Service, which has warned the Gulf Coast will face a flood-generating system that could form into Tropical Storm Dexter.

If the storm were to speed up, it would push the tropical rain across the central Gulf Coast. A storm which stalls over the Gulf or Louisiana could result in more widespread heavy rain and flooding.

The disturbance has a low chance of forming in the next few days, with NOAA forecasting a 10% chance. However, regardless of tropical cyclone formation, locally heavy rainfall is possible for portions of Florida over the next day or so, and for the northern Gulf coast through this weekend.
