The Edmonton Oilers were back at Amerant Bank Arena Thursday for the first time since they lost to the Florida Panthers in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final back on June 24. There was nothing, really, on the line Thursday — but the game was almost as tight.

The Panthers own a 3-0 series lead over the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final, and they can clinch their first NHL championship with a win in Game 4 on Saturday night.

For the first time since Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, the Edmonton Oilers returned to Amerant Bank Arena to battle the Florida Panthers. Just like that game, Florida came away with the victory.

Anton Lundell had three points and Nate Schmidt scored the go-ahead goal with 8:52 left in regulation as the Panthers beat the Oilers 4-3 on Thursday night. Carter Verhaeghe scored the eventual game-winning goal with 6:09 left to play after having a power-play goal in the first period overturned after Edmonton successfully challenged that the play was offside.
