President Trump and Ukraine's President Zelenskyy met privately ahead of the funeral of Pope Francis and "had a very productive discussion," the White House said Saturday.

U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met at Pope Francis' funeral Saturday at the Vatican briefly. Trump hinted at further sanctions against Russia, expressing displeasure at Russia's President Vladimir Putin for recent airstrikes into Kyiv.

It was their first face-to-face meeting since they argued in front of cameras in the Oval Office in February — and comes as efforts intensify to end Russia's war in Ukraine.
