SAN DIEGO — Juan Soto is not in the Mets' starting lineup for Wednesday afternoon's series finale against the Padres, one night after fouling a pitch off his left foot and being removed in the fourth inning. Soto was dealing with a contusion on that foot but X-rays were negative, He was labeled as day-to-day.

Soto recently suffered a left foot contusion after fouling a ball off his foot during Tuesday’s game against the San Diego Padres. Before Wednesday’s series finale, the Mets opted to rest their left-handed slugger and, with a team off day tomorrow, that decision gives Soto close to 72 hours to rest his injured foot.
