Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, expressed optimism about the incoming administration of President-elect Donald Trump, stating it could significantly advance the United States’ artificial intelligence (AI) sector.

Sam Altman, the cofounder and CEO of artificial intelligence market leader OpenAI, was reportedly paid just $76,001 in 2023. It might seem like a shockingly low number, but it’s also not entirely unexpected.

Altman was responding to a question on the United States' competition with China on AI, adding "we very much believe that the United States and our allies need to lead this." Altman also said the US Congress needs to pass legislation that erects safeguards for the use of artificial intelligence.

Altman wrote on X shortly after Trump’s victory that it is “critically important” the U.S. remains on top of developing AI “with democratic values.”
