Patrik Laine made a rousing return after a year away from NHL action. Laine made his debut with the Canadiens on Tuesday night, opening the scoring in Montreal’s 2-1 victory over the New York Islanders.

The debuting Canadien's first goal in Montreal came on the power play early in the second period. Standing at the left faceoff circle, Laine took a pass from defenseman Lane Hutson and quickly fired it over Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin's shoulder to send the Bell Centre into a frenzy.
