Nick Fortes, a DeLand native, will swap Sunshine State teams as the Tampa Bay Rays have acquired him from the Miami Marlins.

The Tampa Bay Rays got younger at catcher Monday, using a pair of reported trades to swap Danny Jansen out for Nick Fortes.

Shortly after trading former catcher Danny Jansen, the Tampa Bay Rays acquired Nick Fortes from the Miami Marlins to replace him.

He has graded as a plus defender in the past, but his framing and throwing grades have dwindled in recent years.
