Without proper treatment, a leaky mitral valve can cause irregular heart rhythm and heart failure, according to the Mayo Clinic.

McIngvale stated that he has a leaky mitral valve in his heart and will have to undergo a 4-hour open heart surgery on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
