In a video posted to her TikTok page on Saturday, Bode said that while she is usually a “deeply unserious person” and loves joking around, she has received “gross and harmful” comments about her character’s disability since the release of “Wicked.”

Spoilers ahead. If you’re familiar with the Broadway show, you know Nessarose has quite the arc in Act 2. She succeeds her late father as the governor of Munchkinland, where she serves as an oppressive ruler and even uses Boq as her servant.

"It is simply a low-hanging fruit that too many of you are comfortable taking," the out actor said in a recent TikTok.

After playing wheelchair-bound Nessarose in 'Wicked', Marissa Bode called out ableist jokes about the character that made her "deeply uncomfortable."

The actress noted that comments about disliking Nessarose are one thing, but people joking they want to push her out of her wheelchair is something else entirely.

Bode said she was not OK with “aggressive comments and jokes about Nessa’s disability,” calling the messages “deeply uncomfortable because disability is not fictional.”

The actress, who plays Elphaba’s younger sister, Nessarose in the live-action adaptation, takes to TikTok to slam the critics who have rude things to say about the character’s disability, as Marissa uses a wheelchair in real life.
