The Chicago Bears promoted wide receivers coach Chris Beatty to interim offensive coordinator on Monday and announced that defensive coordinator Eric Washington will be the defensive play caller in the wake of last week's firing of head coach Matt Eberflus.

Bears decision-makers were still meeting about Eberflus' future during his Friday presser, so they didn't see any reason Eberflus shouldn't meet with the media.

During Monday's press conference, Kevin Warren defended the process in firing Matt Eberflus, but admitted they could have handled things better.
