A portion of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is back open after wildfires forced park officials to shut the park down earlier this month. The North Rim of the park in western Colorado is now accessible to the public.

Crews have made progress in containing the South Rim Fire at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in Colorado. The wildfire has prompted closures of campgrounds at the park for the rest of the year.

The north rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park reopened Wednesday as firefighters mopped up a fire that charred more than 4,000 acres along the south rim.
