The Karen Read team is on the hook for an expensive bill after Norfolk Superior Court Judge Beverly Cannone denied a motion that requested the Commonwealth pay for the work of a security camera expert hired by the defense.

A judge overseeing the Karen Read case credited prosecutors' account of conversations with Read's defense about whether key video footage still existed.

The Karen Read case returned to court Thursday for a hearing on several motions ahead of the April 1 trial date.
