Bernard Looney, the former chief executive of BP, has joined the board of XRG, a new company created by Abu Dhabi’s national oil company Adnoc to invest in global energy assets.

Former BP boss Bernard Looney has joined Abu Dhabi’s £63billion energy investment group XRG, his second new job in just two weeks.Looney kept a low profile after quitting BP in September last year, until his appointment as chairman of US AI group Prometheus Hyperscale last month.

Since the ousting, Looney has kept a low profile, only to resurface last month when he announced he had been appointed chair of US AI start-up Prometheus Hyperscale.
