Hero World Challenge will feature an intriguing field of 20 golfers competing at Albany Golf Course in the Bahamas beginning on Thursday, Dec. 5. Tiger Woods, a five-time champion of this event, is the tournament host but he will not compete at the Hero World Challenge as he continues to recover from back surgery last September.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is making the trip, and why wouldn’t he after finishing second in 2021 and ’22 before winning in 2023, a victory that helped springboard his tremendous 2024 season.

The three players are Ludvig Aberg, Akshay Bhatia and Nick Dunlap. All three were interviewed for the Hero World Challenge X (formerly Twitter) account and let it be known how they felt about being able to play in the event. Aberg stated that he felt very much at home in the Bahamas and that he expected it to be a good week. This is what he said:

The Hero World Challenge, hosted by Tiger Woods, is a 20-man event at Albany with some pretty good silly season money on the line. The four-day, 72-hole, stroke-play tournament is contested at Albany Golf Club in Nassau, Bahamas, Dec. 5-8. This will be the 10th year that Albany has hosted.

Why yes, we do still have golf to bet on in the year 2024. It's not quite a signature event and it most certainly is not a full-field event, but it is the Hero World Challenge, where 20 of the best players in the world will be vying for the $1 million first-place check at Albany Resort in the Bahamas.
