Former New England Patriots head coach and current UNC Tar Heels head coach Bill Belichick has made clear where he stands on the craziness that is the NFL coaching carousel—or at least this one piece of it.

On Wednesday, one day after the Raiders parted ways with Antonio Pierce following his first full season as the team’s head coach, NFL.com reported Tom Brady — now a minority owner of the Las Vegas franchise — had spoken “recently” with Belichick “about what it would take to make a reunion happen.”

Presently, there is not a fully executed and signed contract between Belichick and UNC, sources told CBS Sports — and the school confirmed — this week. Industry sources say that could create to a legal gray area about how much, if any, of a buyout would exist if Belichick left for the pros.

Bill Belichick has been busy on the recruiting trail for UNC, but that hasn’t stopped reports from surfacing about a possible return to the NFL before he even steps onto the Chapel Hill sidelines.
