Former NFL running back Clinton Portis enters the college football coaching fraternity after accepting the running backs coach and run game coordinator position at Delaware State University under new head coach DeSean Jackson.

A number of former NFL stars have landed college coaching jobs over the past year — from the legendary Mike Vick, to veteran deep threat DeSean Jackson. Now another ex-Pro Bowler is reportedly headed to the sideline and he's doing so under Jackson at Delaware State.

Delaware State University’s football program has added another NFL great to its HBCU football coaching staff. Newly hired head coach DeSean Jackson has appointed Clinton Portis as the team’s running backs coach.

Portis is second on the Commanders’ career rushing leaderboard with 6,824, behind only John Riggins (7,472), though the latter played 30 more games with the franchise. Riggins (79) is also the only Washington player with more rushing scores than Portis (46).
