The New Mexico Department of Health reports there are now at least 30 confirmed cases of measles in Lea County.
The CDC is urging travelers to ensure they are vaccinated against measles as the outbreak spreads ahead of the spring and summer travel season.
Health officials in Maryland have confirmed the state's first measles case for the year amid expanding outbreaks in Texas and New Mexico. The Maryland Department of Health said in a statement Sunday that a Howard County resident with recent international travel history has tested positive for the highly contagious disease.
The outbreak has sickened nearly 200 people in Gaines County, Texas. A neighboring county in New Mexico has seen 21 new cases since Tuesday.
