The latest closure means that nearly three-quarters of Louisiana’s portion of the coast-to-coast highway is shut. A rare winter storm brought record snowfall to the state on Tuesday.

The interstate was eventually reopened but the exit and entrance lanes for I-10 east at mile marker 103 are still closed. Detours utilizing service roads, as well as the University and Louisiana Ave. exits are available to traffic needing to enter I-49 from I-10 E.

Lafayette Parish schools will remain closed Thursday because of the snow storm and low temperatures. Schools were already closed Tuesday and Wednesday but officials with the Lafayette Parish School System announced closures would continue.
