Military members could soon be patrolling city streets in Chicago, as per potential plans from the Trump Administration that Chicago and Illinois leaders have denounced.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker blasted President Trump as a "wannabe dictator" Monday, accusing him of trying to "occupy" Chicago with National Guard troops after reports of a possible deployment to the city.

If Trump sends the National Guard into cities without the consent of governors, state leaders would be able to file court challenges, as California Governor Gavin Newsom did to block Trump from federalizing the National Guard to quell protests and riots over his immigration policy in Los Angeles earlier this summer, Banks said.
