Britain was bracing for more snow, rain and flooding on Monday as severe weather disrupted road and rail travel and forced airports in northern England to temporarily close their runways, delaying dozens of flights.

Amber warnings for heavy snow and ice remain in place for parts of England, Scotland and Wales, with travel delays and power cuts likely.

Hundreds of flood warnings and alerts are in place, as the Met Office also issued another two days of warnings for snow and ice.
