The parts of Ukraine controlled by Kyiv should be taken “under the NATO umbrella” in an arrangement that still endorses the country’s internationally recognized borders,

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called for Nato to offer guaranteed protections to parts of Ukraine controlled by Kyiv in order to “stop the hot stage of the war”.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that he is prepared to end the war in Ukraine in exchange for Nato membership. President Zelenskyy said that such a proposal had "never been considered" because it had never "officially" been offered. He said membership would have to be offered to unoccupied parts of Ukraine to end the "hot phase of the war".
