Munster attack coach Mike Prendergast has directly come out and stated his desire to become the next head coach of the province. The former scrum-half recently penned a new deal to tie himself down in his current role for a further two years.

Mike Prendergast has confirmed that he has applied to become the new Munster head coach. The province's attack coach believes the time is right to put himself forward for the top job, having served his apprenticeship in France with Grenoble, Oyonaax, Stade Francais and Racing 92 before returning to Munster in 2022.

The former scrum-half and current attack coach opened his bid to become Munster’s first homegrown head coach since his former team-mate, the late Anthony Foley.
