Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares issued a statement in reference to President Biden granting clemency for Ferrone Claiborne and Terrence Richardson, the "Waverly Two" whose criminal acts caused the death of Officer Allen Gibson in 1998.

Terence Jerome Richardson, 53, and Ferrone Claiborne, 48, were among the 2,490 inmates nationwide whose federal sentences were commuted Thursday by Biden on his very last days in office.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin and Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares lambasted President Biden after he granted clemency to the "Waverly Two," who they said admitted to being responsible for the 1998 murder of a Sussex County police officer.

On Sunday, the NAACP Virginia State Conference commended Biden for commuting the sentences of Ferrone Claiborne and Terrence Jerome Richardson.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) harshly criticized President Biden for commuting the sentences of 2,500 nonviolent drug offenders including two men sentenced to life in prison for killing a local police officer.
