Jon Stewart confronted Elmo during Monday night's "The Daily Show" over the "Sesame Street" puppet's X hack and antisemitic tweets.

Elmo's X account was "compromised" on Monday, with hackers using the the Sesame Street favourite's social media for an antisemitic, racist tirade. Having also experienced the online hellhole we're currently living in, Jon Stewart used his Daily Show monologue on Monday night to dig into WTF just happened.

It seems Elmo's world recently included vitriolic racist and antisemitic social media posts. Sesame Workshop says it seeks to restore control over the beloved puppet's X page.

Elmo’s X account was hacked, sending out a shocking string of racist, antisemitic and derogatory posts. A Sesame Workshop spokesperson called the messages “disgusting,” and added that they are working to restore control of the account.

The tweets, which Sesame Workshop said were posted by a hacker, focused on the files allegedly maintained by Jeffrey Epstein.
