Jurado-Lugo had been identified as a suspect a few days after the murder, but went into hiding. He was arrested in Mexico in August 2023 before being extradited back to Denver in December 2023.

That suspect, Fabian Vasquez, 19, is being held on suspicion of two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. Police said their investigation found Vasquez shot the two victims. He was taken to a hospital due to a bite wound from a police dog during his arrest and for prolonged exposure to the cold.

A 25-year-old man pleaded guilty to shooting and killing a woman in southwest Denver in the summer of 2017. Jesus Jurado-Lugo was 18 years old at the time of the shooting that left 26-year-old Lydia Coronado dead and another man seriously injured.
