Saturday marks the first full day of Marines on duty in Los Angeles, one week after protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids ignited in LA and spread to other cities across the U.S.,

Demonstrators gathered in roughly 2,000 communities large and small, with few reports of unrest. Many protests on the East Coast have wound down, but demonstrations were just beginning in Los Angeles,

President Trump ordered National Guard troops to the area after clashes over immigration-enforcement operations.

While the president contends that the L.A. protests against his immigration policy have been chaotic, the scenes are not as violent.
