Rochester, N.Y. — The Salvation Army of Greater Rochester is making an urgent plea for donations. Friday, the nonprofit hosting "Roc the Kettle" Day, matching any donations up to $15,000. The organization said it's still $26,000 away from reaching its Red Kettle Campaign goal of $250,000.

Salvation Army bell ringers are out in full force with Red Kettles at about 30 locations throughout the area, like one inside the lobby of the Tops on Main and Union in Williamsville. It's a fundraising event dating back to the late 1800s.
