Two lanes in each direction have opened, with a 25 mph speed limit between Temescal Canyon Road in Pacific Palisades and Carbon Beach Terrace in Malibu, according to the California Highway Patrol.

After months of being closed to regular travel, a critical 11-mile stretch of Pacific Coast Highway is set to reopen this Friday, just in time for Memorial Day weekend. PCH, a key route connecting Los Angeles to Malibu and coastal Ventura County,

"It's a major artery for L.A., and Malibu has really become an island over the past four months," owner Tim Morris. "Looking at all the people who are regulars who have been giving us phone calls, 'Hey, are you guys open? How do we get to you?'"
