With migrant communities already living in fear amid the Trump administration's immigration crackdown, ICE raids in downtown Los Angeles sparked days of protests.
Officers deployed flashbangs and tear gas, and Sky5 captured the moment officers on foot and horseback moved into the large crowd.
What started as a small protest against immigrant arrests escalated over a few days, after President Trump called in the National Guard.
All traffic has been halted on a portion of the 101 freeway in Los Angeles as protesters walk on the freeway, according to Los Angeles Police Department. Both northbound and southbound lanes have been impacted, officials said. "101 freeway between Alameda and the 110 freeway is closed due to demonstrators walking onto the freeway," police said.
Meanwhile, two men are being charged by the U.S. attorney in Los Angeles for possession of an unregistered destructive device for their alleged roles in the LA protest violence, federal prosecutors announced. Emiliano Galvez and Wrackkie Quiogue are both accused of trying to throw Molotov cocktails at police, according to federal prosecutors.
A curfew has been enacted for downtown Los Angeles from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. amid the ongoing anti-ICE protests, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced.
Demonstrators made their way onto the 101 Freeway and stopped traffic in both directions before National Guard and law enforcement moved them off.
