The Vietnamese electric car manufacturer VinFast has announced the construction of its second plant in Vietnam in order to double its production capacity in the country from 300,000 to 600,000 vehicles.

VinFast Auto Ltd.’s new electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Vietnam’s central province of Ha Ting will start operating by July next year, according to an emailed statement.

Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer VinFast on Sunday announced a plan to build its second domestic production plant that will double its output capacity, saying it is needed to meet increased demand for its small and mid-sized models.

Vietnamese automaker VinFast Auto, a subsidiary of the local private conglomerate VinGroup, has begun construction of its second battery electric vehicle (BEV) plant in the country, in the central province of Hà Tĩnh, according to local reports.

Upon completion, the plant, built in Vung Ang Economic Zone in Ha Tinh, will be the second VinFast’s EV production plant in Vietnam, following the first one in northern Hai Phong City.
