It doesn’t seem like Nate Diaz is on board with Dustin Poirier’s plans for his retirement fight. A former interim lightweight champion and one of the most popular fighters on the UFC roster, Poirier has fought for undisputed UFC gold on three occasions and been submitted all three times.

After Dustin Poirier said that his next fight certainly won’t be against Liverpool’s Paddy Pimblett, he received a response from a former rival. If there’s one fight that it’s a shame we never got to see from ‘The Diamond’ during his incredible UFC career it’s a matchup with Stockton’s Nate Diaz.

Jorge Masvidal defended Dustin Poirier in the latter's ongoing conflict with Paddy Pimblett. Later this year, Poirier is expected to end his legendary MMA career with one final fight in the UFC, potentially in his home state of Louisiana.

Between this and rumors of a fight with Top 10 contender Michael Chandler, Pimblett has been poised for a massive fight after breaking into the lightweight rankings. Unfortunately for Paddy "The Baddy" fans, Poirier won't be fighting that far down the ladder as he did against Benoit Saint-Denis last year.

Diaz split from the UFC after a main event win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 279. He was originally supposed to face Khamzat Chimaev before a botched weight cut demoted Chimaev from the main event slot.

Conversations have begun to stir up about whether former Interim UFC Lightweight Champion Dustin Poirier's final UFC fight is going to take place or not.
