The Trump administration has ended $20 billion in funding for greenhouse gas reduction projects in a move that climate advocates and Democrats say illegally seizes money allocated for clean energy and transportation for disadvantaged communities.

The green bank was quickly targeted by EPA administrator Lee Zeldin, who was confirmed to the role in late January.

The organization says it is entitled to $7 billion in taxpayer funds — something that the new Environmental Protection Agency leadership has put on hold.
