Israeli authorities say that at least five people were wounded in a stabbing attack in the northern Israeli city of Haifa, and the assailant was killed.

The unnamed suspect, an Israeli citizen who also held German citizenship, was shot at the scene by the security forces shortly after the stabbing incident.

One man, aged 70, died and four others have been sent for medical treatment at the Rambam Hospital in Haifa, Israel's Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency service said on Monday. Israel's police said it was on the scene of a "stabbing attack" at Hamifratz Central Station in Haifa.
