It seems Elmo's world recently included vitriolic racist and antisemitic social media posts. Sesame Workshop says it seeks to restore control over the beloved puppet's X page.

"Elmo's X account was briefly compromised yesterday by an unknown hacker who posted disgusting messages, including antisemitic and racist posts. The account has since been secured," a spokesperson for Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, said in a statement to ABC News on Monday.

The X account of Sesame Street’s Elmo, a beloved children’s TV character, shared anti-Semitic and anti-Donald Trump posts after being hacked. A slew of messages calling for the extermination of Jewish people and labelling the US President a “puppet” of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were shared on the account.
