Right-wing British Member of Parliament Nigel Farage responded favorably to the idea of the United States joining the British Commonwealth after President Donald Trump suggested it could happen on Friday. Newsweek has reached out to the British prime minister's office, Farage and the Commonwealth for comment on Saturday.

Reports in the British press indicate an offer could be made by the monarch when Trump makes a state visit to the UK later this year.
