As of Tuesday afternoon, California's average is $4.58 per gallon, less than the average from more than a week ago of $4.65 per gallon, or from a month ago at $4.78 per gallon, according to data from the American Automobile Association.

The average fuel price in state declined about 19 cents since last month. According to the EIA, gas prices across the state in the last year have been as low as $4.09 on Dec. 23, 2024, and as high as $4.73 on April 7, 2025.

California is seeing the lowest July gas prices in three years, the governor's office said on Thursday, one day before the July 4 holiday.
