The NCAA changed its rule in the offseason so that postseason games no longer count against the four-game maximum for redshirt eligibility. McFall played in Saturday’s game against Cal and had a few explosive plays, including a touchdown. More of that could be in store against Clemson.

SMU has a better shot at being taken seriously by beating Clemson, with its brand-name credibility, than if Miami had qualified for the title game.
