Jason Gillespie has resigned as head coach of Pakistan's Test side. Aaqib Javed named the interim red-ball coach.

Jason Gillespie has resigned as Pakistan's Test cricket coach due to disagreements with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), particularly over the non-renewal of his assistant's contract. Aaqib Javed will replace Gillespie as interim coach for the upcoming South Africa tour.

Javed will take up the responsibility as the red-ball coach during the forthcoming Test series against South Africa.

It may be recalled that Gary Kirsten, who joined as the white ball side’s coach along with Jason Gillespie, had resigned before Pakistan left for the series in Australia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Jason Gillespie's decision is said to be the result of continuous difficulties with the PCB, which peaked on Friday when he refused to board his scheduled 6 AM flight to South Africa.

In a shocking development, Jason Gillespie has stepped down as the Test coach of the Pakistan cricket team. This comes just a month after Pakistan's white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten resigned in a similar fashion.
