Pirates: welcome Philadelphia for a three-game set beginning Friday. Bailey Falter, who posted a 0.76 ERA across six starts in May, starts the opener for Pittsburgh.

Matthew Boyd threw six quality innings, and Dansby Swanson hit a go-ahead home run in the sixth inning to propel the Chicago Cubs to a 2-1 victory over the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday afternoon.

Jared Triolo, who entered with a .152 batting average, had two of Pittsburgh’s five hits against him. Triolo drove a leadoff double in the third inning and scored on two groundouts. Valdez’s only other blip came in the fifth, when Triolo had the first of three straight two-out singles against him.

Sandy Alcantara struck out six in six shutout innings, and the Miami Marlins edged the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2 on Tuesday night. Alcantara (3-7) allowed three hits and walked one in his first win since April 12.
